If you never heard of Deming's red bead game, it's an experiment W. Edwards Deming ran to shed light on incentive programs for workers to improve quality in manufacturing. Even if it's not strictly kanban, I think any proponent of Lean should at least know about it, which is why I'm posting a link to Moore's column here.
